What COVID-19 safety procedures are in place?

7/26/21: We made the difficult decision to postpone our 2020 wedding because we care more about the health of our friends and family. It is the expectation that all guests who are not vaccinated remain in masks (over nose and mouth) when indoors and not eating. If you do not have a mask, we will provide you with one. 6/18/21: Newfields asks that wedding guests and party members wear masks when around museum guests.

What happens if there is bad weather?

Answer

In the event of bad weather, all guests will be notified of a change of location for the ceremony only. The reception location will not change. The ceremony will be moved to Fairview Presbyterian Church (4609 N Capitol Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46208), the Van Wyk's home church, which is 2 miles from Newfields. We appreciate the flexibility if this were to take place.

Is there parking?

Answer

Newfields has plenty of parking, and there will be an event cart for guests who are unable to walk the grounds to the ceremony. We will have a shuttle for hotel guests.

What's the dress code?

Answer

Cocktail, please. But we want you to feel comfortable, so if those shoes are too high or that top button is too tight, let it all hang loose.

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, if not, we would prefer to celebrate with just you.

Are kids invited?

Answer

We love your kids—we really do. But we want our wedding to be your night off! However, there may be some small family members joining us.
