How We Met

06.24.2017

While they grew up in the same town, Taylor cheered and Cody played football for the pee-wee Firebirds, and even went to the same high school, they really didn't "know" each other then. What they consider to be how they met and where their story begins was one night at a mutual friends get together; they connected instantly through conversation and laughter, and have been together ever since.

The Proposal

07.04.2020

On their 3 year dating anniversary, Taylor comes home from work where she opens the front door to Shauna (her mom) standing in the hallway. Her mom takes her upstairs and talks to her about her day, while Taylor changes out of work clothes into regular clothes to celebrate 4th of July with Cody and family. Taylor's mom guides Taylor through the house and says, "Happy Anniversary, lets go outside." As they walk through the house, there is music playing, pictures of Taylor and Cody everywhere, candles lit, and roses covering the floor. Taylor asks, "What is all this for?!" Shauna replies, "Cody wanted to do something cute for your Anniversary". Shauna continues guiding Taylor out of the house and through the yard, where Taylor sees her grandpa standing at the fence gate with a dozen roses in his hand. Taylor begins to tear up as she starts thinking how sweet and thoughtful of Cody to do all this. Shauna links arms with Taylor and leads her to the open back yard, where there is friends and family lined up on each side of a runway of roses, with everyone holding sparklers. Taylor begins crying, as she continues walking with her mom. At the end, is Cody standing there, he kisses Taylor and reads what he wrote, "Love isn't always perfect, isn't always a fairytale or a story book, and it doesn't always come easy. Love is overcoming obstacles, facing challenges, and fighting to be together, holding on and never letting go. It is a short word, easy to spell, difficult to define, and impossible to live without. Love is work, but most of all, love is realizing for every hour, every minute, every second, it was worth it because we did this together." Cody takes a deep breath, gets on one knee, and asks Taylor, "Will you marry me?" Taylor, crying and smiling so big, blubbers out a "YES!" and they were engaged!
