Our Story

The short version. We're limited to 2000 characters as to not keep you here reading all day...

Our story begins in high school at St. Timothy’s youth group. Although no known recordings exist, our first moment of connection may be traced back to one Sunday night when we were tasked with singing a duet of “Ain’t No Mountain” with Anneke smashing the part of Marvin Gaye, & Mike struggling through Tammi Terrell’s lyrics. In 2009, we went on a mission trip to a reservation in Ashland, MT where an immense number of youth groups gathered to serve. Amazingly, we were on separate work crews, yet were assigned to the same house. Our goofy personalities came together so perfectly & it was here that our friendship was solidified. After high school, we went to college in different states. We stayed in touch sporadically, grabbing lunch when breaks coincided & had an ongoing contest of who could take pictures of the most cars with Transformers logos on them. This spanned over several years & into post-grad life, until Snapchat became popular in 2013. If you know about Snapchat, you know Anneke LOVES it. Mike appreciated the humor & creativity in Anneke's Snaps, so one day he texted her saying, "I want you to know that I live for your Snaps." Since that day, the texting never stopped & the dating would shortly begin. On April 15, 2015 on his way out to begin his flying career in LA, Mike stopped in Denver & had a date night with Anneke. While on a cliff side watching the blood moon, we decided to try this relationship thing out. We mastered the long-distance, watching Breaking Bad "together" on date nights, traveling between CA & CO, & less than a year later, Anneke moved to LA. After 2 years of sunshine, beaches, traffic, and breweries, we moved to Las Vegas where Mike accepted a job. We quickly grew to love Vegas life, going on hikes & road-tripping to nearby national parks. On May 29, 2017, during a road trip to Bryce Canyon, Mike asked Anneke to marry him. We are currently loving life with our 2 dogs & can’t wait to see you all in July!
