We’re gettin’ hitched!

I had bought a ring from groove life planning to propose to Opie. The day I picked it up from my moms house I was unable to function knowing it had it so I decided I just needed to do it. I planned to ask him to marry me in a fashion similar to him asking me to move in with him. It was supposed to be along the lines of “this doesn’t mean you have to marry me, but if you want to you can”. I clammed up as I handed him the ring in the groove life box and just said “that’s for you”. He gave me the weirdest look and said “it’s for me?”. I told him to just open it. He did and then he said “what’s this?” So I said “if you wanna get married we can. It’s up to you”. He said “are you like proposing to me?” I said “yes, unless you don’t want me to and I’ll just take it back and we can pretend I didn’t” things were super awkward and silent so I just decided to curl up in a ball and cover my head (my go to avoidance move). I hear some paper rustling but don’t move until I feel something placed in my hand. It was the same box I had just handed him. I said “are you giving it back?” and he told me to just open it. It was a different groove ring. I was so confused. He told me he had bought it for me a few months prior but was planning to propose with a diamond. When I handed him the ring I bought for him he thought I’d found mine. It was seriously such a weird situation and not the proposal either of us had envisioned but it’s our unique story, I guess.
