Vania and Jack met six years ago at the first party of their sophomore year at the University of Washington. Vania was so sick that she lost her voice but was still determined to meet new people (pre-COVID). For some reason, Jack wasn’t going to give up on talking to a beautiful mute girl and was really good at reading lips. They ended up talking for 3 hours at the party, and immediately hit it off. They saw each other more and more through study dates at the library, fraternity grab-a-dates, and exploring Seattle. Years went by, full of meeting friends and family, skiing, traveling, spending holidays together, and graduating by each other’s side. After college, they both stayed in Seattle for a year while Jack began working and Vania was applying to Physician Assistant programs. Vania was accepted into PA school in Oregon, moved to Hillsboro for a year, then did rotations around the world the next year. During those two and half years of long-distance, their relationship grew stronger than ever, and they knew forever was in their future. Jack hatched a plan to propose to Vania during her last week of her clinical rotation in Sevilla, Spain. Vania’s parents and Jack had planned to come visit. What she didn’t know was Jack bought a ring and snuck his family over to Sevilla with him to celebrate if/when she said yes! They had planned a date at a rooftop bar overlooking the Catedral de Sevilla the same night Jack had flown in. As they walked around the church, Jack had a plan to meet up with Vania’s Spanish cousin, a photographer, who was able to capture the special moment of the proposal. Vania said yes, and they went straight to a rooftop dinner with Vania’s parents. The surprise grew even more when Jack’s family joined from across the Atlantic Ocean! They spent the next week in Spain with their families - one of the most special weeks of their lives. Now they live in San Diego, California, with their golden retriever, Max, and cannot wait for friends and family to be here to celebrate their marriage!
