Ceremony & Reception: Formal. Suits for men, long dresses for women. Tip for Women: We recommend chunky heels or wedges, some areas have grass and cobblestones, add a coat since we'll be celebrating outdoors! Colors: Feel free to embrace color! Please avoid white and black dresses.
Don’t miss bolo do caco (garlic bread), espetada (beef skewers), lapas (grilled limpets), bolo de mel (honey cake), prego (steak sandwich, often served in bolo do caco), pão de deus (sweet roll topped with coconut), queijada (sweet cheese tart), and of course Madeira wine and poncha!
Taxis, uber and the Bolt app are convenient within the city or close towns. If you plan to explore the island beyond Funchal, there are tourist buses or a car rental is best. Be warned that many streets are narrow and steep!
