These have been voted BEST donuts in the state - some say in the country [#1 on Yelp in 2022]! Be sure to get their TEXAS SIZED donut and add the decadent chocolate icing! They also have homemade kolaches and a variety of fresh baked sweets. They are open all day with a drive through or walk up!
The Domain is a high end outdoor shopping, dining, and activity center. With multiple hotels, restaurants, and retail options - it's the perfect place to stay or to spend the day exploring without needing to roam too far! The area is family friendly during day and has an active nightlife on Rock Rose Blvd.
P6 is a rooftop bar in downtown Austin with light bites and incredible river views. We love to come here to catch the sunset and enjoy the city views. The food options are limited so if you are looking for a full meal, use this as your cocktail hour spot!
South Congress is another great area to walk to explore local Austin shops and cuisine & it's directly south of downtown. You can park anywhere along the street or various parking garages and stroll to enjoy hours of entertainment. We highly recommend Perla's if you are looking for upscale seafood or Aba for Mediterranean cuisine. Amy's Ice Cream is a delicious spot for an all day treat as well - they stay open late till 11PM! Fun fact - when we first started dating, the bride lived on this street. We had many of our first dates walking this area & exploring the dining, hotel bars and ice cream shops!
Steiner Ranch Steakhouse is our favorite steakhouse to dine at when we want a delicious meal and incredible views of Lake Travis! We love sitting on the patio with live music enjoying the evenings. They also do a fantastic brunch buffet on Sunday!
If you are looking for delicious food with prime Lake Austin views a bit closer to downtown, Quince is a seafood fusion option to consider. With both indoor and outdoor seating options on the water, take in the local views while enjoying your brunch or a nice sunset meal. Quince is located next door to a local coffee shop & bakery Mozarts, where you can stop in for an after dinner cup of coffee or sweet treat.
If you are staying closer to downtown or a big BBQ lover, another highly recommended option is Terry Blacks BBQ on Barton Springs Road! Terry Black's originated in nearby Lockhart [Barbecue Capital of Texas] and has been featured in Texas Monthly numerous times. The Barton Springs location is frequented by celebrity visitors and locals alike. Depending on time of day you arrive, prepare for a small wait.
If your wanting some delicious Texas BBQ in North Austin - Salt Lick has been named one of Austin's best many years running! Highly recommend trying the Brisket or Beef Ribs. They also do an All You Can Eat for $33.00 a person! Enjoy it with a nice margarita or cold beer and you're set!
We love to visit this piano bar for our evenings out in Round Rock! It's a great jazz bar with a local dive feel and has wonderful entertainment! Pro tip- you can reserve a table online if you arrive by 8PM! Be sure to bring cash to give direct requests to the musicians!
Barton Springs Pool is an Austin classic. This natural spring fed pool is a beautiful spot all ages swim in year round, with an average water temperature of 68-70 degrees! Kick back with a nice book and beverage while taking in the springs & city views! Swimming in February may sound crazy, but Texas is known to be moody with our weather! If the weather is warm enough for you - it's worth a cool dip for the adventurer. They have a paid side [$2 -$4] and a free side. We prefer the paid side for easier access into the springs. The pool is also located next to Zilker Park and Zilker Botanical Gardens which are wonderful spots to explore. We like to arrive by 9AM to Barton Springs Pool [to secure nearby parking] and after some swimming and lounging, drive 10 minutes away to Pool Burger on Lake Austin Blvd for a fantastic lunch! The tiki ambiance, burgers & cocktails are the perfect post pool day treat!
