Their love story began with chance and serendipity. In fall 2015, Vanessa and Sagar matched on a dating app. Their conversation stood out as meaningful, augmenting their mutual attraction to each other as they exchanged messages on current events and social justice issues. However, the timing was such that Vanessa suddenly became busy with finals so the app took a back seat in terms of priority. By the time Vanessa realized that she had dropped the ball on their conversation, she was embarrassed by her faux pas in online dating etiquette. Meanwhile, Sagar wondered why he was being “ghosted." This almost “missed connection” faded into digital history. Fast forward to January 2016. One Monday afternoon, Vanessa was having coffee with a friend when in walks Sagar, who was actually meeting someone else for a date. Vanessa said to her friend, “Hey, I think that’s the guy from my dating app!” Now Vanessa had the perfect opening to pick back up the conversation. Later that day Vanessa wrote: “Hey, I’m not a stalker, but I think I may have seen you at this coffee shop today.” Sagar replied, “Hey Stalker!” Their first date was that Thursday. They hit it off and the rest is history. Their love story is strengthened by the support of their dear family and friends, whose presence and blessings at this celebration of their life together means the world to them.
