You’re looking at a dating app success story. Although we officially “met” online, the location of Robbie’s garden on 30th and Gunn street here in North Park opened the door to our story together. As Vanessa started her first year of architecture school, she was assigned a location to design and develop a project for affordable housing. It turned out to be Robbie’s urban farm, which, let’s say, raised the alarm when budding architects began casing the scene. However, with time this was the spark that lit the fire. With such an unusual connection, we decided to take a leap of faith. We met after class and work on a rainy midweek night in November at a local tavern in Hillcrest. From the moment we sat down, the conversation and connection began to flow long into the night. While falling in love on the eve of a global pandemic wasn’t precisely on either of our bingo cards, these circumstances turned out to be just the right setting to get to know each other deeply through lockdowns and for our life to begin unfolding together. Soon enough, we were sharing home offices and exploring our worlds, and to this day, our days and conversations mirror that first rainy date night. We look forward to continuing to have these moments together for eternity, and we are thrilled to be sharing this joyous occasion with you, our family, and our closest friends here in springtime San Diego.
