We first met while Vanessa was visiting haiti for a medical mission trip in 2017. Pierre Richard just recently moved back from Cuba after finishing his medical degree. One of his cousins knew Vanessa was visiting and eagerly searched for him to orchestrate a meet up. They met at a dinner at the local hotel where Richard knew it was love at first sight. Richard asked his cousin for Vanessa and her mother's contact information immediately and he called her mother stating his interest in Vanessa and desire to pursue a relationship. Due to the distance, they maintained a friendship that was founded on their love for medicine and Haiti. They remained very close as they would give each other advise on their families and careers. In 2023, there was an opportunity for Richard to move to the USA and Vanessa helped him with this process. This move allowed them a chance to get to know each other on a deeper level and in 2024 their friendship transformed into a relationship that was founded on a their 7 year friendship. Now, they are ready for the next step and celebrate this union in front of all who know and love them.
