Downtown
Be sure to get out of your hotel and walk around the beautiful downtown area of Playa Del Carmen. Near the downtown area, there are also the Mayan ruins Xaman Ha! Check out this website to learn more about hotspots and must-see attractions.
Xcaret Park
If you are staying at the Occidental at Xcaret, you can add admission to your room reservation. The night show and dinner is a must-see! There are also a range of other parks to visit that have something to offer for everyone. Check out the website for more options.
Chichén-Itzá
Chichén-Itzá is one of the new 7 wonders of the world. This tour includes a guided visit to the ruins to see the pyramid known as El Castillo, as well as a nearby cenote.
Coba
Coba boasts the second-tallest Mayan pyramid in the world, called Nohuch Mul, which you can actually climb! It is close enough to Playa Del Carmen to do a shorter tour if you like, or a full-day tour, including exploring nearby cenotes. Tulum
There is so much to see and do in Tulum, from Mayan ruins on the beach to Casa Malca (a mansion once owned by Pablo Escobar). This site rounded up a few different tours that offer hotel pickup and drop off. There are also buses that run from Playa Del Carmen to Tulum if you’d like to do some exploring on your own.
San Miguel de Cozumel
In downtown Playa Del Carmen, there is a ferry pier that will take you to the island of Cozumel. This site lists some activities you can participate in on the island.
