How I Met Moe

Our story begins in a trendy sushi restaurant in Chicago. We connected on the dating app Hinge before finally meeting in person. The practical, straightforward Moe we all know kept the texting brief and immediately set up our first date. I like to think it's because I was such a catch but it was probably to prevent that initial spark from dying out. When I approached Moe at the dinner table at Hands on Thai, I saw a tall, handsome man wearing a shirt with a funky bird pattern and a surgical mask across his face—note, this was during the days of COVID restrictions, but it still wasn't enough to keep us away from one another! We then agreed to remove our masks which was the moment of truth! Fingers crossed and hopeful there is a physical connection! Once we did, we were shocked to see that we both looked like the pictures we uploaded to the app. Of course, I blushed when Moe said that I looked even prettier in person. We know Moe is quite the charmer! We were immediately caught up in humorous banter from the very start (the waitress had to stop by our table three times before we could focus on the menu to place our orders) and chatted until the lights flickered in the restaurant, a signal from the owner to leave so the employees could go home! We talked about our favorite shows, politics, culture, food, and everything else you could imagine! As a trick, Moe also introduced me to Malört which I thought was the grossest drink in all of existence. This was the first time I got to see his sense of humor which was a subtle foreshadowing of all the pranks and antics to come in our growing relationship. From that moment on, our interactions felt easy! We felt deeply connected. Our conversations were effortless, quiet moments felt secure, and our laughter grew each time we spoke. I noticed that we had so many similarities in our mannerisms, interests, dreams, emotional intelligence, values, and most importantly, temperaments—which explains our high level of agreeableness! We are all for keeping the peace. Flash forward 2 years 3 months and 12 days later from that first date, Moe proposed to me in Kyoto on a wooden bridge overlaying a lake brimming with koi and boasting a beautiful view of the Japanese mountainside. My eyes welled up in tears knowing that the love of my life was proposing to me in the place I've dreamt of visiting since I was a little girl. I knew this was the perfect beginning of our lives together as husband and wife! Moe and I are just your average wacky, eccentric duo with a love for traveling, living (slightly) beyond our means, eating delicious food, and enjoying every genre of music you can think of! Together, we've discovered that the best adventures are the ones we create with each other and we feel so grateful for our partnership. Join us this summer as we say "I do" to kick off the next phase of our lives together. We are SO excited to share this day with our families and closest friends.
