Como algunos de ustedes ya saben, ¡nos encanta viajar! Así que cuando empezamos a pensar en dónde celebrar nuestra boda, sabíamos que queríamos un lugar especial y un poco diferente—un lugar que también compartiera raíces españolas, en reflejo de nuestras herencias ecuatoriana, colombiana y española. Después de una “investigación muy seria” (es decir, asistir a la boda de nuestros mejores amigos en Antigua), Antigua nos enamoró de inmediato. Así que aquí estamos, invitando a nuestra gente favorita a celebrar nuestro amor y nuestra unión en lo que esperamos sea un fin de semana verdaderamente inolvidable. --- As some of you may already know, we love to travel! So when we started thinking about where to host our wedding, we knew we wanted a place that felt special and a little different and somewhere that also shared Spanish roots, reflecting our Ecuadorian and Colombian heritage. After some “very serious research” (aka attending our best friends’ wedding in Antigua last year), Antigua immediately stood out. So here we are, inviting our favorite people to join us in celebrating our love and union over what we hope will be a truly unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime weekend!

Puedo llevar acompañante? Can I bring a plus one?

Solo podremos recibir a las personas indicadas en su invitación, ya que será una boda muy íntima, con la presencia principalmente de familiares y nuestros amigos más cercanos de la infancia. --- We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation as this will be a very intimate wedding, with mostly family and our closest childhood friends in attendance.

Esta boda está pensada para ser solo para adultos. Habrá una excepción para algunos niños de la familia inmediata. --- This is intended to be a child-free wedding. There will be an exception for immediate family.

Cómo moverse por Antigua/Getting Around Antigua

Antigua es una ciudad en forma de cuadrícula de 9 por 9, donde se puede caminar de un extremo al otro en un máximo de 15 minutos. Las calles están hechas de adoquines y las aceras son estrechas. Si ya no quieres seguir caminando, puedes pedir un Uber o tomar un tuk-tuk (taxi local) para llegar a tu destino. --- Antigua is a 9 by 9 grid that takes maximum 15 minutes to walk from one end to the other. The roads are made with cobblestone and the sidewalks are narrow. If your legs can't take anymore, you can order an Uber or wave down a tuk-tuk (local taxi) to take you to your destination.

El quetzal es la moneda de Guatemala. El tipo de cambio es aproximadamente 1 USD por 7.80 quetzales. La mayoría de los lugares, pero no todos, aceptan tarjetas de crédito/débito. Dicho esto, siempre es buena idea llevar algo de efectivo cuando se viaja. Puedes cambiar moneda en el aeropuerto al llegar o usar cajeros automáticos ubicados por toda Antigua. El clima en Antigua es hermoso en esta época del año y suele estar entre los 24 y 27 °C, pero puede refrescar un poco por la noche. Por eso, sugerimos a nuestros invitados venir preparados y llevar una chaqueta, suéter, chal, blazer, etc., para las noches más frescas. Las calles están empedradas con adoquines grandes y las aceras pueden ser un poco irregulares, así que asegúrense de llevar zapatos cómodos para caminar. --- The Quetzal is Guatemala's currency. The conversion rate is approximately 1 USD to 7.80 Quetzals. Most places, but not all, take credit/ debit cards. That being said, it’s always a good idea to carry some cash on you when traveling. You can exchange currency at the airport when you arrive or use ATMs located throughout Antigua. The weather in Antigua is beautiful during this time of year and will be in the mid to high 70’s but might be slightly cooler at night. So, we suggest our guest come prepared and pack a jacket, sweater, wrap, blazer, etc. to wear at night when it’s a bit cooler. The streets are paved with large cobbles stones and the sidewalks can be a bit uneven, so please make sure you pack shoes you’ll be comfortable walking around in.

(For our non-Spanish-speaking friends) Will it be necessary to speak Spanish in order to get around?
Answer
Spanish is the official language of Guatemala, though many people in Antigua, particularly those working in tourism, also speak English. Please expect that much of the celebration will be in Spanish (but if Vanessa’s aunts and uncles have a few drinks, you may hear plenty of English too.)
