Vanessa and Kelvin met back in June of 2013 at ages 23 and 24, respectively. Kelvin was a recent graduate of Mercer University, had moved to Columbus, GA, and was working back in his hometown, Hamilton, GA. Vanessa was a student at Columbus State University in Columbus, her hometown. They were introduced via text by one of Kelvin's groomsmen and Vanessa's sister after Vanessa had just recently gotten out of a relationship. Vanessa, not really taking it seriously, just asked Kelvin crazy questions with hopes that he'd just go away. Kelvin's response was to match that energy in a bit of fun 😂. They had enough fun talking to each other over the phone that it was enough for them to meet up; at McDonalds (Vanessa didn't take it seriously 😅). After that, Vanessa started taking it seriously. Not too long after, Kelvin got a job offer in Atlanta, and moved, bringing the question upon them of whether they should continue. However, they decided to take a chance and make it work. Kelvin and Vanessa continued to communicate often through video, phone, text, and road trips; then on December 5, 2013, Kelvin asked if she would “be his girlfriend”. Kelvin and Vanessa would visit each other practically every weekend until Vanessa decided to move to Atlanta to finish school at Georgia State and to be closer. Over the last 6 years, their bond grew stronger, they've supported each other's dreams, and the love was undeniable. They've grown closer to God, learned about each other, and encouraged each other to write books, record songs, create apps/websites, and so much more. They’ve bonded as not only the love of each others lives, but as best friends too.

On May 9, 2019, Vanessa graduated from Georgia State University. The following Saturday, she wanted a party where she could celebrate with both her and Kelvin’s close friends and family. While everyone finished eating and socializing and Vanessa ended with words of gratitude and thanks, Kelvin motioned that he needed to say something, too. Unexpectedly, while expressing how proud he was of Vanessa, he pull out a beautiful ring, fell to one knee, and asked Vanessa to be his wife. And now they enter into their 6th year together as both fiancés and husband/wife. They are pleased to share their union as husband and wife with their grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters and friends on June 20, 2020 and cant wait to see you there.
