Jason and Vanessa met 8 years ago on April 5, 2013, at the Amanda Perez concert in Austin, Texas! Yes, the Amanda Perez from the early 2000s, “Candy Kisses”, “Angel”, get you all in your emotions…you ladies remember! However, neither Vanessa nor Jason were really there to see Amanda in concert. Jason’s cousin Pat invited him to attend to the concert to see his friends perform who were one of the local Opening Acts for Amanda. Jason had planned on attending the concert with a date, but then decided he did not want to go with her and tried to cancel the plans with Pat. Pat would not take NO for an answer, and so Jason told his date that he was going to “stay home”. Jason ended up going with Pat, date-free! Vanessa had recently moved back to Austin from Dallas, and one of her then friend’s Kami was trying to get her out for a much-needed Girl’s Night! Kami also wanted to see the same Opening Act Pat was there to see. Vanessa really did not want to go out that night and she tried to back out from the plans. Kami convinced her by promising her an amazing time with Bottle Service & VIP lounging! I guess that is all it took, because before you knew it Vanessa was ready to go and vibing in the VIP section! Jason recalls watching Vanessa sitting on top of a booth up in the VIP, sipping her drink and very engaged with her phone! In his words he said, “she was so beautiful she looked like a SUPERSTAR” and was very “out of place” there! He was for certain her boyfriend would be showing up any minute! After some time, Jason realized she too was date-free, so he worked up some “liquid courage” and decided to approach her! He walked up and hit her with, “Say girl, you aren’t supposed to be on Facebook in the Club”! She looked up and saw a handsome man standing there, she giggled and said, “I’m not, I’m on Instagram”!

The rest of the night they engaged in flirtatious conversation, Jason bought Vanessa (at her request) the most expensive cocktails there (he should have known then, she was trouble...lol) and they danced the night away! They remember hitting the dance floor to Amanda’s biggest hit, “Candy Kisses”! Exchanging numbers at the end of the night, and not even a week later from their meeting they had their first date! After that, the rest is history! They have not left each other’s side since! If you ask them, they will both tell you it was DESTINY that brought them together…to think they both almost did not attend that concert!

In early 2019, after 6 beautiful years together Jason finally saw the perfect opportunity to plan an Engagement Proposal that would melt Vanessa’s heart! They had recently won a free Staycation at a local Art Show. It was a one-night stay in a Private two-story suite at the newly built Native Hostile Hotel! Vanessa was super excited to book the stay and so she emailed the hotel Manager and cc’d Jason to set up the details. This is when Jason’s wheel started turning! He came up with a master plan and decided to send the Manager a separate email. He informed the Manager that he wanted to propose to Vanessa upon their arrival for check-in. The Manager was ecstatic and was ready to help in any way! In an effort to ensure Vanessa would not be mad later for being proposed to in her yoga pants, he had to make sure she would be dressed nice! He also wanted to ensure he would capture this special moment on video without her suspecting a thing! So, Jason asked the Manager to send Vanessa an email asking if she and Jason would participate in a “quick promotional interview” upon arriving, and that they were requesting this from all the recent guests who had won Free Night Stays! Then to further explain, that this interview would be conducted by one of the “hotel staff members” who will ask a few questions on video, and then film them both walking into their Suite. Vanessa was a little hesitant at first when she got the email and did not reply to the Manager right away. Meanwhile, over the next few days Jason was growing increasingly anxious, because he knew that she had not replied yet! The whole proposal would fall through if she didn’t agree to the “interview”! Finally, one evening Vanessa mentions the interview to Jason asking him if he wanted to participate. Jason tells her, “Why not, let’s do it”! The next day she responds to the email agreeing to the interview. The Manager replies letting her know what time to check-in and to arrive “camera-ready”!

Jason starts to pan out the specifics. He lined up the “hotel staff member” to be a buddy from work. The work buddy would be the “interviewer” asking the questions and catching everything on film. To set a romantic vibe, he gets on Instagram and discovers an amazing Saxophone player that he arranges to be at the Hotel. In the week leading up to the big day, he knew she would want her nails on-point to go with her new BLING! So, he surprises her with a card reminding her of his love and appreciation and included money in it suggesting she get her nails done. The day before their check-in, when Vanessa thinks he is at work, he picks up some proposal props and takes it over to the hotel to have it set-up in the Suite. At this point, Vanessa did not suspect anything out of the ordinary! On March 21, 2019, Jason and Vanessa checked into the Native for their Staycation! They sat down on a couch while the “hotel staff member” asked a few basic questions that Jason had previously prepared for him! When they were done, they were escorted to their Suite while the Interviewer trailed behind them with camera rolling! Meanwhile, the Saxophone player came around the opposite corner, walking down the hall towards the Suite playing their favorite couple song, John Legend’s “All of Me”. As the beautiful floor-to-ceiling doors opened, Vanessa walked upon an entry way covered in rose petals! She was led into a beautiful intimate set-up! To her right, rose petals were aligned on the bed in the shape of a heart, floating above was a huge diamond ring balloon affixed to a beautiful stairway! She then looked to her left and saw candles and the bottle of champagne that they had previously bought to save for a Special Night! It was in that moment, she realized what was about to happen! She recalls beginning to shake and starting to tear up, she looked over at Jason and asked, “is this it”?

He replies, “this is it” and then drops down to one knee! He proceeded to tell her what she meant to him and if she would do him the honor in being his wife! She of course says, “YES” and they embrace one another while the Saxophone player began to play their second favorite love song, “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran.
