Chris and Vanessa met at Vanessa's older brother's 80s themed birthday party in August of 2013. Chris was wearing spandex (!) and Vanessa was channeling her inner Madonna. Even with the crazy costumes, Vanessa and Chris gravitated toward each other the entire night. They played beer pong against each other, realized that they shared the same overly competitive nature, shared many laughs, and were inseparable from that day on.

After 7 years of dating, Chris finally popped the question in Vanessa's favorite place, Pacific Grove. On October 24, 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic, Chris took Vanessa to Monterey Bay for a picnic on the beach. At the end of their visit, Chris and Vanessa were sitting on the rocks at Asilomar State Beach and Chris finally asked Vanessa to marry him!
