We had planned to celebrate being together for 5 years and 6 months by heading to one of our favorite seafood places near Santa Cruz then to a tequila festival, but like always, we over ate and stuffed ourselves not wanting to go anymore. It was hot and I was breaking in new shoes that were bothering me. To make things worse my shirt strap ripped, unable to take off my sweater I was over our trip. Chris was so convincing to head to the boardwalk and walk around, bribing me with funnel cake, and of course I couldn't say no. He was quiet and acting strange, yet so was I because all I could think about was going home. He wanted to stop by a beach where he had heard about a cave, unimpressed I tried to persuade him to come back another day. We stopped by this private beach and I was in awe. Like always, Chris knows best. We walked around and a photographer asked if we could be his test subjects in exchange for free pictures for a school project. Chris was quiet, I was excited! We walked over towards a boulder and it clicked. As I turn around, Chris on one knee I scream and jump and laughed all at once. People clapping in the background and here comes my family behind the boulder with flowers and champagne. On our way home I was blind folded and the surprise continued, our whole family and friends waiting for us to celebrate our engagement. I would not have thought of a more perfect way I would want our engagement to start, with family. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you, see you in Mexico!
