Believe it or not, Vanessa and Alex met online via the free dating app, Plenty of Fish! Vanessa was looking for commitment, and Alex was looking for casual fun. :P When Alex happened upon Vanessa's profile for the first time in late August of 2014, they immediately began talking. IM's turned into 3-4 hour long phone conversations, and before they knew it, they were connected and falling hard for each other! Vanessa, being impatient and ready to see if Alex was the real deal, surprised him on September 21st 2014 by driving 4.5 hours to meet him in his hometown of Washington, NC. A simple coffee by the waterfront and a stroll through St. Peter's church graveyard was enough to seal the deal--they were dating and weren't going to stop anytime soon! 6 years later, and here we are....

It's been a long road to get us where we are today.... After we met in 2014, neither of us were ready for the sheer gravity of connection and immediate commitment that we had for each other. I had just turned 21 and had recently finished my Associate's Degree, and Alex was 22 and in the middle of his Bachelor's, already making plans to study abroad in the UK for his doctorate. We were a happy mess! After 3 or so months of back and forth travel to visit each other, we started making plans to move in together. Now, we didn't do what any wiser couple would have done: save money, furnish a nice new apartment and make responsible financial decisions--oh no! We made our beginning journey into our relationship in a camper on Alex's family property, barely making ends meet between two minimum wage jobs! God bless that little camper.... Our beginning may have been a test for any new couple, but throughout our relationship, we have gone through and overcome so many obstacles and celebrated victories along the way. Throughout every test, we have only gotten closer together and have come out stronger on the other side. Though it has been six years since we began our journey, we still enjoy every day together, and are SO excited for what the future holds for us! We are overjoyed that our wedding day is FINALLY approaching, and we cannot wait to celebrate the day--a culmination of every beautiful thing that we have gone through to get to where we are.
