We met in drafting class during our sophomore year of high school. It was a two hour class with only 5 students - including us! So, we had a toooon of time to get to know each other! We bickered like crazy! We could not stop bothering each other. I would swear to all my friends I didn't have feelings, but that was never quite right. It wouldn't be until junior year that we admitted we liked each other!
Alright, fast forward to our junior year of high school. We've been texting everyday since the start of the school year, and Levi has finally asked to go to Homecoming together. But just as friends because of course it couldn't be that easy! One day, we start one of those goofy conversations asking each other "Do you have a crush?" "Yes..." "OMG! Do I know them?! Who is it?" After dancing around the topic for a bit, I inform Levi that the ridiculous story I'm writing -for my creative writing class- about two dinosaurs who like each other is actually my fanfic about us. I literally said "Let's just say you rock my prehistoric world" when he asked if I really like him back! Like, what? I could die! Seriously, how long was I just sitting on that one?! But blunder years aside, I'm so happy we were honest with each other because now I've got an awesome partner who found us two beautiful kitties to spoil the crap out of.
I had NO IDEA it was coming! All our friends were in town for their annual October trip to Dallas. It was the end of the trip, the annular eclipse, and our favorite restaurant was hosting an art festival. I'm the one who asked everyone to go to the festival, so I seriously had no reason to believe it's where he would propose. Like in my mind, everything we were doing that day was my plan. How was I supposed to know he was going to hijack my plan?! So, we get to the restaurant, and Levi is like "Let's sit down and wait until everyone else gets here." Sure, okay, that makes sense, but I've already seen like a million things I want to buy and more importantly eat. I was dying to run around the festival. He's practically holding me in place, so I won't scurry off or look the wrong way and see someone brining the final piece of the puzzle. At some point, Levi grabs my hands and starts complimenting me and saying he loves me. Like two sentences into his speech, it clicks and then the only thing I can do is repeat the word "Really" over and over like a broken clock. Then he pulls out the doughnuts with the magic words," Marry me?" I eventually pulled it together enough to say "Yes!", but I definitely just grabbed the ring right outta the box without waiting for him to put it on for me. Patience was never my strong suit. It was everything I wanted, and I'm so proud of him for finding a way to make it happen!
