According to Andy, the two met in the parking lot of Waubonsie Valley High School after one of Vanessa's soccer games. It seems that the moment was more memorable for Andy because Vanessa doesn't remember meeting Andy. At all. Andy and Vanessa first spent meaningful time together during a weekend trip with friends to the Indiana dunes during the summer of 2008. They played beach soccer and quickly discovered one another's competitive spirit. Little did they know that they would push one another to be their best selves for many years to come.

It was just like any other Monday night. Vanessa was at home preparing dinner waiting for Andy to get home from work. Monday nights tend to consist of some type of Bachelor TV show (yes...guilty), and this Monday was no different. Vanessa was preparing dinner, while also trying to watch The Bachelor. The show had started so Vanessa was a little distracted from finishing up dinner. She decided to ask Andy to finish dinner for her. All Andy had to do was put the cooked food on the plate, so she didn't think this would be a very hard task...but she was wrong. Andy disappeared from the kitchen and was nowhere to be seen. A little frustrated, Vanessa plated her food during a commercial break, and sat down at the table alone to finish watching the show. A few minutes later Andy finally appeared into the kitchen. He could tell Vanessa was a little frustrated with him, but that didn't stop the sly smile he had on his face. Little did Vanessa know this was about to be the most memorable dinner of her life. Andy came around the corner and asked Vanessa if she still wanted to have dinner with him. Vanessa of course said yes. Then Andy got down on one knee and asked if she wanted to have dinner with him for the rest of their lives. Completely surprised (even after dating for 10 years) Vanessa said Yes!
