Matron of Honor
Brittney and Katelyn met in high school, but became close friends in their twenties when they were roommates and committed to weekly lunches at Chili’s. Nine years ago, while wine tasting, Brittney helped Katelyn decide to move to Oregon. (a decision that clearly worked out) Now married to Collin, our officiant, Brittney is a wildly successful attorney and still the person Katelyn calls when she needs honest advice, a reality check, or permission to order another margarita.
Taylor Sarman
Best Man
Taylor and Jacob met doing student government at Oregon State when Jacob hired Taylor to be the ASOSU Congressional Clerk. Somehow Jacob was able to con Taylor into joining the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. Jacob and Taylor lived together longer than two grown men should and spent years trying to make their own way in politics and closing down the CI Bar and Grill. Together they have survived college, politics, the Watershed Music Festival, and now their early 30s.
Teri Holcomb
Bridesmaid
Teri is Katelyn’s cousin, born just one week apart. Growing up Teri liked to tease Katelyn and claim she was a full year older since her birthday is in December and Katelyn’s is in January. Over the years, they’ve shared some unforgettable trips, lovingly referred to by Teri as her “mom-cations,” including a whirlwind day in New York City and a weekend where Katelyn showed her all the best parts of Oregon. Now a pharmacist, married to Eric, and mom to Lainey, Teri somehow still makes time for adventure and Katelyn couldn’t be happier to have her by her side.
Ivan Estrada
Groomsman
Ivan and Jacob have been friends since kindergarten when Ivan walked into school with an Ivan Ooze backpack (Power Rangers was a big deal then). Jacob and Ivan grew up playing sports, sneaking into the computer lab to play Runescape on the school computers, and generally getting into trouble. Jacob and Ivan were roommates at Oregon State their Freshman year. Jacob went onto get a useless Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Ivan got a Doctorate in Public Health (not like it's a competition). Jacob and Katelyn enjoy getting together with Ivan and his wife Andie to dust off whatever nerdy board game is in the collection.
Kenzie Vandever
Bridesmaid
Kenzie is the groom’s sister-in-law and someone who has always made Katelyn feel welcomed and loved. The two quickly bonded over romance novels and their shared love of the Vandever brothers, and that connection has only grown stronger over time. We’re so grateful to have her as part of our family and standing by our side on this special day.
Justin Vandever
Groomsman
Justin is the groom's younger brother who he grew up with hunting, fishing, playing sports and trying to not accidentally kill each other (Turns out blowguns aren't appropriate for a 12 and 13 year old). Justin now lives in Umatilla with his wife Kenzie and their two kids, Jaxen and Reagan, and he’s an incredible dad. Jacob and Justin against the world
Rikki Riley
Bridesmaid
Katelyn met Rikki after moving to Oregon, and she quickly became the kind of friend you can count on for absolutely anything. From drinks and girls’ nights to showing up when you break your leg, Rikki is always there when it matters. Now living in Alaska, she still makes sure to show up for all the important moments in life, including this one.
Kyle Garske
Groomsman
Kyle and Jacob met in college through the Alpha Sigma Phi and have been friends ever since. He now lives in Bend with his wife Svea and their daughter Raya. Kyle took Jacob on his first ever time skiing, but then banished him to the bunny slope for a day until he could properly "Do a pizza". Kyle always brings a positive energy to the group, even if the guys make fun of him a little too much (at least it takes some heat off of Jacob).
Hailey Counes

Katelyn met Hailey at work while they were both fifth grade teachers, and the two quickly became friends over shared classroom chaos and a mutual love of a good vent session. Hailey played a big role in helping Katelyn find her unexpected dream job teaching middle school language arts. She’s the kind of friend you can always count on; whether it’s for advice, help moving, or keeping the classroom running while Katelyn is on her honeymoon.
Brian Bartlett
Groomsman
Brian is another friend of the grooms from the fraternity. He lives in McMinnville with his wife Becca and their daughter Serena. Little known fact, in addition to being an environmental engineer, Brian is also skilled at directing traffic. Brian is always fun to be around and Jacob appreciates that he will be there to make him feel tall on his wedding day.
Mackenzie "Mack" Townsend
Groomsman
Jacob and Mack also met through Alpha Sigma Phi at Oregon State. Even though Mack was younger than Jacob, they stayed close friends long after graduation. Mack is always down for a good time, brings great energy wherever he goes, and has been part of so many unforgettable (or completely forgotten) memories over the years.
Ben Schimmoller
Groomsman
Ben and Jacob met in a political science class at Oregon State and quickly bonded over politics and a shared love of nerdy fun. Ben and Jacob helped each other on their campaigns for State Representative in 2014 and 2018, although Ben managed to get a bit closer than Jacob did. He lives in Redmond with his wife Jessica and their son Marcus. Whether it’s a spirited political debate or a game night, Ben is always great company.
Garrett Mosher
Groomsman
Jacob met Garrett at Oregon State, where they bonded over their mutual interest in politics and their mutual dislike over certain people in politics. When Jacob first moved to Salem, Garrett and Jacob lived together, and he’s been a steady presence ever since. Garrett loves fly-fishing and is always the one reminding Jacob to stop talking about work and enjoy the good things in life, advice we probably should take more often.
Collin Swart
Officiant
Katelyn met Collin shortly after moving to Oregon, and he’s been around for all sorts of adventures ever since, from craft nights to drinks and everything in between. As Brittney’s husband he has always been supportive of their crazy ideas (and will happily drive the getaway car when needed). The four of us do trivia together regularly, with Jacob and Collin bonding over nerdy debates while Brittney and Katelyn catch up on all the latest life details. He’s the friend who quietly tolerates our chaos, and we’re so lucky to have him leading the ceremony and standing with us on this special day.
