Russell and Emma were introduced through Kennedy Van Dam, who Emma worked with at the time and Russell is obviously related to. She talked each of them up to the other - until Russell started regularly checking out Emma on Instagram - so she called him out on it. "They" talked for a weekend - and by "they" we mean Kennedy talked to Emma as Russell so he wouldn't ruin his opportunity. That is, until Russell was left on his own to talk to her and he ghosted Emma on her "Happy Easter!" message. Needless to say, Emma decided that this guy sucks. In a last ditch effort to get these two love birds together, Kennedy invited Emma to go bowling where they finally met each other in person. They ended up having a great time, and afterwards Russell hosted everyone for a game night, where he learned Emma's favorite game was Clue (which is apparently not a "real" enough board game). When Emma left, he bought several board games like Clue that she had never played in the hopes that she would go back over and play with him again. Which, of course, she did. The two of them ended up talking every day while Russell was in Japan for two weeks, never once ghosting her. When he came back, he took his sweet time in asking Emma to be his girlfriend, which she promptly said yes to, they would tell you all the waiting was well worth it. The rest is history! Now, Russell says Happy Easter first ;) As of today, our ceremony plans only include a date, a time, and a place - more details to come!
