How We Met

We actually met in 5th grade a la Katy Elementary. Andy was the new kid in school and all the girls thought he was the cutest! Flash forward a few years when we actually appreciated the opposite sex, senior year at Katy High School. He asked me to Homecoming and we've been together ever since! Well, minus a few months but we couldn't be apart for very long. We did the long distance thing for a few years when I moved to Texarkana for work until Andy graduated from college (Go Gators!). After he got a job in Dallas, I was transferred to the same area and we finally got the opportunity to be together in Dallas. Andy was really excelling at his job and was eventually transferred to Austin, TX where I eventually found a job. We bought our first home in Pflugerville in March. Now we're just keepin' it weird in Austin! Andy and I have met so many people and have made so many memories together and we can't wait to make one more with all of you. See you in January!!!!

The Proposal

08/30/2019

Andy wanted to go to a nice dinner to celebrate a work bonus. We got dressed up, I wore heels and we went downtown for dinner. We had a long-ish walk to dinner and when we got there, my dogs were BARKING. My feet already hurt. We get seated and have the best dinner - I was talking all night about how hot I was and how sweaty my legs were. I was really setting the mood. After eating so much, Andy wanted to walk to the pedestrian bridge down the street. I said heck no, not in these shoes. He said we needed to stretch out and walk after eating so much. Again, I said no way. Finally, he gritted his teeth and said "Erika, we're going to this freaking bridge." It obviously took a little convincing, but we finally made it to the bridge. No one was around and we were just looking out across the lake. After I caught him fidgeting in his pocket a few times, he finally (after 10 years) got down on a knee with a ring. I won't say what I said, but let's just say it was along the lines of "HECKING FINALLY!" We have loved each other for so long and we are so excited to celebrate with everyone as we seal the dang deal.
