Van - It all started with my love for sweet potato fries. Anh had the audacity to claim seasoned fries were better (They are good, but NOT better!). Nonetheless, I agreed to an afternoon boba date a couple days after. Little did I know that we would get lost in conversations at this first encounter, which lasted for hours. He did leave me going home hungry, but I couldn't show. (Now he gets a taste of my hangry-ness every morning. I guess we can call it even :D). We ended the night with plans for the next date.
Both - Our second date! Van - Looking back, I couldn't believe I agreed to go on this date. I could have ended up on some Netflix missing person special... But we went on a 12-hours long date, where Anh took me on a hiking trail in Shenandoah National Park - 2 hours away from home! - and we REALLY got to know each other since there was no way for us to escape haha. Surprisingly there wasn't any awkward moments, and that's when I knew ;) Anh - Before this date, I knew that Van's love language was physical touch, so I planned to hold her hands at some point during the hike. So, when we came across a stream, I held some water up for her to feel, hoping she would hold my hand. To my disappointment, she used her little finger to barely touch the water and confirmed, "Oh yeah, it's cold."
Anh - Cuddling Van - EATING!
Whoever happens to be closer to the trash. Sike, it'll ALWAYS be Anh :) and he knows it.
Costco sample lines, Aldi/Lidl grocery aisles... shhhh no judgement please!
Smoky trip - where we limped through Gatlinburg. So far? It must be the road trip to hike Smoky Mountains. It was our first time away from home and our daily routine. The trip tested our resilience, tolerance, and character. We went through the ups and downs, figuratively and literally. After some six hours of climbing up the mountain, we were greeted by the peaceful misty sunset. Then, on our way down, a scary black BEAR gave us a scare. Let us tell you something. Gravity and fear got us down the mountain pretty quickly. That was when we both knew, that cupid's arrows are still accurate. The trip validated our compatibility, commitment, and love for each other. Van's side note: The next day I felt pain in my left knee. Interestingly, Anh's knees also "felt pain" shortly after seeing me limb around town. However, while I continued to feel sore for days to come, he magically recovered the next day. That was when I learned about sympathy pain.
Van - For his birthday, I took him to Maine for their lobster festival. We also went to hike Arcadia National Park. When we got to a secluded corner on top of the mountain, while Anh was setting up his drone camera, I got down on my knee and... tied my shoelaces. ... I looked up and saw Anh clumsily setting the controller down to get down on his knee. He nervously asked me to marry him. Of course, I smiled, laughed, cried, and said YES! NOW, you must think we have footage of this proposal. Welp, we don't. Anh pressed the wrong button, which stopped the recording...
