Question

So, what's your story?

Answer

Megan and Greg met in 2014 at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY where they were both freshmen in the music program. They both got into acappella groups on campus and had many mutual friends. In January 2016, their Sophomore year, they began to hang out regularly and went on a magical trip to Austria and Germany with the Saint Rose Chamber Choir. When they came back from the trip, Greg asked Megan to be his girlfriend! They graduated from Saint Rose in 2018 and in August of that year Megan moved to New York City to attend New York University for her master's degree. In November of that year Greg took an interview for Sweetwater Sound in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He moved to begin his Sales Engineer training in January 2019, and Megan and Greg's relationship became long-distance. When Megan graduated in May 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic was in full swing. Megan and Greg decided, with so much else going on in the world, the best thing for them was to be together. Megan moved to Fort Wayne in August of 2020. In October 2020, they adopted their precious pug puppy, Belle. Megan began working as an Academy Coordinator at Sweetwater Academy on February 22, 2021, Greg's birthday. In November 2021, they closed on their first home together. While on a trip to Italy with Megan's family in August 2022, Greg proposed! The group was on a guided tour of the island of Capri and had just taken the chair lift to the highest-most point on the island, Monte Solaro in Anacapri. Overwhelmed with the beauty of where they were and seeing a perfect opportunity to involve Megan's family, Greg proposed during a photo-op, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. The couple celebrated by purchasing small tokens for their engagement - Megan, a ring from the jeweler at the base of Monte Solaro, and Greg, a locally made watch - and by enjoying a special lunch shortly after with Megan's family.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by August 1st, 2023.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Since Eolia Mansion was historically built for Edwardian era soirées, we would love to see our guests get all dressed up in formal attire (suits, floor-length gowns, etc.) but more importantly we want you to feel comfortable, confident, and ready to party! If you have questions about what would be appropriate to wear, please feel free to reach out to us.

Question

So what about shoes?

Answer

While the mansion itself has hardwood flooring and a concrete terrace, the mansion and park grounds are gravel, grass, etc. with asphalt walking paths. Please take these into consideration when planning your shoe choice!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

As much as we love your little ones, toddlers, and teens, this occasion will be adults only. We hope you are able to use this as an excuse for a date night or weekend away! Please reach out if you have questions or need help finding accommodations for them.

Question

What about plus ones?

Answer

Unfortunately, due to budget restraints and venue maximum capacity, we are unable to offer plus ones to our guests at this time.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Shoreline Connecticut in the fall is beautiful, but can be chilly at night. During the day, expect averages around 64 degrees, with lows around 47 degrees at night. Please bring some warm layers for the evening, as there is usually a breeze off of Long Island Sound.

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our wedding ceremony is outdoors. The reception dinner will be indoors, but cocktail hour and dancing after dinner will be under an open air tent on the mansion's terrace.

Question

What is parking like at the venue and is it handicap accessible?

Answer

When you enter the park, you will pass the ticket booth. Continue up the main road until you see the parking lots directly in front of you. The ceremony site (waterfront amphitheater) is located to the right side of the park in front of you if you are facing the water. Cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing will be located at Eolia Mansion which is further into the park (a short walk) up the path to the left of the parking lot. A golf cart will be available to shuttle our guests who may be unable to walk this distance to the mansion from the parking lot or ceremony site. The mansion and the park are both handicap accessible.

Question

Will there be a shuttle service from my hotel?

Answer

Yes! A 55 person coach shuttle bus will be picking up from the Marriott SpringHill Suites (Mystic/Waterford) at 2:00pm. The return shuttle will leave the venue at 7:45pm to drop you off back at the same hotel. If you miss either of these times, please plan to call an Uber, etc. accordingly!

Question

What's for dinner?

Answer

Grilled Bistro Steak with a coffee dry-rub, cumin red wine demi-glace, topped with frizzled leeks and sides of whipped Yukon Gold potatoes and steamed, crisp green beans in brown butter OR Cedar Plank Roasted Filet of Salmon with maple glaze and sides of herbed jasmine rice and roasted seasonal vegetables with herbs from the Gourmet Galley Garden OR Roasted Butternut Squash Ravioli with browned butter sauce, crispy sage and parmesan shards. Yeah, we know. We're excited too lol!
