We're Getting Married!

Alex and Van met while enjoying the nightlife in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle at a bar called Herb & Bitter. They hit it off right away, finding quite a lot to talk about and a shared love for games as they proceeded to some other places in the neighborhood to go bowling and shoot some pool. This led to them deciding to meet up again after work the very next day to cook dinner together, beginning a new trend of consistently cooking delicious food for each other.

Alex had a specific hike (Index Town Wall) picked out for the event for quite a while, but hadn't yet decided on a specific day to make it happen. Then, on a random Spring Sunday morning, we were trying to decide on a hike to do that wasn't terribly long, but had a good view at the top. Van asked, "want to do Index?" Alex quickly realized that this would be the day, and asked Van about taking her tripod to take photos on her phone (very uncharacteristic of Alex, so he was pretty sure that Van might guess. When Van started to put on makeup (not common for her to do before a hike), Alex was sure she had figured it out. After setting up a great scene with the mountains in the background from the top of Index, Alex set up his phone for a "photo" and walked over knowing the video was recording. He proceeded to get down on his knee, with Van almost falling over from the sudden movement, and promptly opened the ring box upside down. Van became rather giddy and started commenting favorably about the ring, at which point Alex reminded her that he had, in fact, asked her a question that was still waiting for an answer.
