Veronica was the driver to a night out to a club with her best friend and her girlfriend. They asked if they could bring her brother James. Veronica said sure. They hit it off and began seeing each other. James decided to make it official and asked Veronica to be his girlfriend on April 14, 2012.

James had been secretly planning this engagement for a very long time. A few months before the annual No Mothers campout, Veronica had her big toe broken on her right foot and didn't know if she would be able to do their one of their favorite things, hike to their favorite hiking spot. Days before the campout, Veronica was cleared for light hiking. Good thing for James, because his plan was able to take effect. James invited family members under the guise of his 30th birthday (that is what Veronica thought at least). He planned a family hike to our favorite hiking spot and proposed in front of everyone at sunset. It was perfect!
