How we met

April, 2005

We met when Joe started driving a school bus for School District 70. I could see he wasn't sure how to turn off a bus, so I went over to show him where the kill switch was. He thought I was really cute (he told me to put that in here). We would see each other at work, and went out for drinks a couple times with friends from work.

Our First Date

May 21, 2005

Brandon, Kyle, and Cayleen were spending the weekend in Eckley with their dad. I decided to go eat lunch, by myself, at a Chinese food restaurant in Pueblo West. While I was eating, Joe called, said he was going to take his boat out to the reservoir, and asked if I would like to go with him. Of course I said yes. We spent the day on his boat drinking Pina Colada's. We've been together ever since.

The Proposal

August 25, 2018

I had been in Idaho with Cayleen for a week for her knee surgery. When I got home Joe kept saying we need to do something romantic, because we hadn't done anything romantic for awhile. (I kept telling him the word isn't romantic, it's "romantical". Haven't you ever watched The Little Rascals?) On Saturday, he made plans for us to spend the day at Garden of the Gods. We stopped at Blackeyed Pea in Colorado Springs for lunch on the way there. As we were eating, he got a call from work and a bus had broken down in Denver. He unfortunately was going to have to take another bus to Denver, so our "romantical" day would have to wait. He kept saying how disappointed he was that we couldn't follow through with what he had planned. He was having another driver bring a bus to him, and they were meeting at the Love's Store in Fountain. As we were sitting in the car in the parking lot of the Love's Store waiting for the bus, he popped the question! He had my ring in his pocket the entire time. I was absolutely speechless, stunned, and confused at first, but extremely happy when the shock wore off and I realized what had just happened. Of course I said Yes! Joe had planned on asking me while we were on a short, "romantical " hike at Garden of the Gods. The driver that brought the bus to us, drove my car back to Pueblo. Joe and I spent the rest of the day riding in a school bus together. What could be more "romantical" than that!

For all the days along the way
