In the French Quarter, in front of the St. Louis Cathedral. Several art vendors and performers regularly station outside the square. The square itself has a fountain and lots of lawn area for relaxing.
Steamboat on the Mississippi River, with casual dinner cruises and sightseeing cruises available.
Delicious beignets (square French style donuts covered with powdered sugar) and coffee available. This is an iconic spot so you will probably have a long line. If you’re not into the historic spot there are many restaurants who sell beignets too!
Located near the quarter but in the Marigny, this street has a bunch of jazz clubs and a night art market. Snug Harbor is a favorite of the jazz clubs, and Frenchman Art Bazaar is full of unique local artists.
New Orleans cemeteries are full of incredible stonework - everyone is buried above ground since the city is under sea level. The St. Louis Cemetery is iconic for having many famous and infamous people interred there and it’s the oldest surviving cemetery in New Orleans.
The National World War II museum is excellent - lots of well done exhibits and a theater you can get tickets for a show.
The zoo is located in uptown New Orleans connected to Audubon Park, filled with beautiful ancient live oaks. There is also an Aquarium and Insectarium closer to the quarter where we’ll be located. https://audubonnatureinstitute.org/aquarium. Both are great spots!
A museum dedicated to jazz, located in a historic building between the French Quarter and Frenchmen Street.
A great stop for food and a Pimm’s Cup. 200 year old building that used to house the mayor of New Orleans and famously once provided refuge to Napoleon Bonaparte.
