After having no luck dating in Vancouver, Valerie decided to change the location of her online dating profile to New York. Since her and her friend Cece were only in town for the week, she didn’t think much of it. That is until a handsome man with a great smile came on the screen and Cece encouraged Valerie to take a chance on him. David was also single and having no luck on the online dating scene. After taking a long break, he decided the day before to give it another try hoping for a different outcome this time. Valerie decided to send David a message, and within minutes she got a response from the New Yorker. It was 2:30am. Valerie and Cece were jetlagged, but what was David doing up that late? She asked and found out he wasn't coming back late from a party, but had procrastinated in preparing for the men's bible study he was leading the next morning. Valerie’s interest was piqued. Even though David should have been preparing, he was excited to be talking to the girl from Vancouver. They met the following day. Val was dressed for a party she was going to later that day, while David was dressed for rehearsal. However, one glance at his shoes and Valerie was intrigued. He was wearing the same shoes Valerie wears almost everyday, Blundstones. It was a classic coffee and walk kind of date along the streets of New York. They talked, shared their life stories, and testimonies. And all too quickly, the two hours had gone by. David noticed something different about Val. Was it her eyes? Her love for God? Her sweet charm? Whatever it was, it didn't take him long to make his move. Before parting ways, he said, "I suppose this is the part where I ask for your number." He got her number and wondered when he’d see her again. Within minutes of parting ways, Val was pleasantly surprised to see a text from David asking to go for a movie the next day. They continued to see each other and made the most of the time Valerie was in town. On her last day, David called out of work so they could have more time together. His thoughtfulness had left an impression on Valerie and she was hooked. They talked that night about hoping to see each other again, but not knowing when that would be and prayed before parting ways. A few days later, David was notified about a potential cancellation for the trip to Israel that he and his mom had planned a year in advance. He was looking forward to going, but deep down David hoped the trip would fall through. For reasons outside of his control David’s trip to Israel got canceled. A month after meeting the girl from Vancouver he hopped on a plane to go see about a girl. And as they say the rest is history.
