Val is originally from Baltimore and went to University of Maryland where she majored in chemistry and sustainability. She moved to Connecticut in 2016 to work as a chemist in Darien. Tom is a life-long Connecticut resident, originally from Stratford. He attended Central Connecticut State University and earned a degree in environmental science and biology. Val and Tom met at work in 2017. They developed their friendship over the course of 2 years before they began to date. Tom would come to Val's desk and ask for Vitamin E Acetate while Val would bring Tom fresh baked bread. Their first few months went by smoothly because they were already such good friends. Tom and Val knew they were meant for each other after a weekend getaway to Acadia National Park. They never ran out of things to talk about for the entire weekend, which is a miracle for these two.

During their trip to Oahu, Hawaii, Tom and Val went on a hike to Koko Crater, a large botanical garden in the center of a volcano. While Val was searching for mongooses in the palm trees, Tom got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. We're excited to celebrate this life changing event with you in one of our favorite hiking spots. See you in the Catskills!
