Trent: To make it simple, Valeria was a dream girl. Our circles always crossed, but only our eyes ever met. From the hallways, weight room, or track, any time I'd see her, I'd gather every ounce of courage just to say "Hi," in hopes she would even respond (Yes, this sounds super weird and creepy but it wasn't like that. I just simply thought she was the most beautiful thing ever). So, after her graduation (2 years before me... yes, cougar.) we did what most people do after leaving high school; forgot about each other. We then continued on with life with the only connection being through social media. Until.... It was fall of 2020... Valeria: "Hey, what are you doing here?!" I asked Trent, after being pleasantly surprised by seeing a familiar face at a new church. We shared a brief conversation about his role at the church and how he ended up there, and that was it. "You should talk to him Ale," I suggested to my best friend as we walked out of church. "He seems like a good guy and he's cute." "Ew no, you should.. he is YOUR type," she responded. I can now admit that he is DEFINITELY my type. Trent: She walked away with her group of friends, as I tried to hide the fact that I was secretly hoping she would turn back to look at me one last time. Sadly, my friend interrupted saying, "I saw you talking to Valeria." Which to that I replied with zero hesitation, "....I promise -- if she were to ever give me the time of day, it's game over. " Fast forward about a year or so. Valeria: By now we had exchanged several Instagram conversations about anything random that Trent would comment on and make conversation with. Of course, I thought nothing of it because to me he was nothing more than a cute friend I went to high school with. One day Trent sort of flirted with me with the words and I quote "I know you're the homie and all, but you are GORGEOUS," (hence, the 'sort of'.. ). That was the first time I thought to myself "hmm, maybe his random conversations aren't too random." At one point he even invited me for coffee, and I'll admit, I was looking forward to that happening. BUUUUUT it never did. So finally... "Pictures or it didn't happen." was the lame message I sent to Trent as proof that I went to church after HE had invited me (he tells this story as if I made the first move, so just to clarify). It was also my way of hoping he would somehow remember that he had invited me to get coffee 'sometime'... Trent: I don't even like coffee, but it was the first thing that came out of my mouth and it seemed like the thing to do to get to know someone. Other than that, when she DM'd me that night I knew good and well that this was my shot and it was time I take it. With that thought in mind, I responded, "Wish I would've seen you though." Valeria: A few more messages later, we exchanged numbers, and we haven't stopped texting each other good morning's ever sense. We also finally went on that coffee date and we talked for hours, and hours, and hours (and yes, he doesn't even drink coffee by the way). Trent: To reference back to 2020, when I told my friend if Valeria would give me the time of day it would be game over -- Here we are now, and I really put a ring on it! Valeria: Time to trade in the goodmorning texts, for his sweet face every morning. LET'S GET MARRIED!!!!!!!
