January 2015. Nova Southeastern University. Val was starting her second semester of her sophomore year when Dom transferred from New York to Florida to finish his Exercise Science degree. Through mutual friends, they quickly met and became super close for months before any BIG moves were made. After countless study sessions, movie nights, pool days, and Flight Deck pitchers (if you know you know), Val quickly realized that Dom was unlike anyone she had ever met. Dom, on the other hand, was so intimidated by her that he thought he would never EVER have a real chance with her. Fast forward to months of flirting and mixed messages (and Val making the first official move), they were finally going on a REAL DATE! Fast forward to October 2015, they made it officially official and have been attached at the hip ever since!

After dating for over 5 years, going through the best and worst moments of their lives together, it was time for Dom to make some moves. He admits that he knew he wanted to marry Val from the very beginning and also knew that it had to be the most special moment of her life. Dom was planning out the ring design, the proposal, and all the little details about a year before he officially popped the question. As they were headed to New York to celebrate their 6th Christmas together with the rest of Dom's family, it FINALLY happened. As they arrived at Dom's childhood home, the words 'Marry Me' were shining so beautifully with lights, a gorgeous fire pit and beautiful decorations set up by the best sister in law in the game (shoutout Nicole <3), and of course champagne ready to be popped. Through shaky hands and so many happy tears, Val and Dom became officially engaged!!!
