Travel

The Wedding Website of Emily Valencia and Duncan McHale
We are excited for you to join us in Telluride! Here are a few tips to make your stay in the mountains as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Mountain Travel and Weather: Telluride’s high-altitude location brings beautiful views but also quickly changing weather. Pack layers to stay warm and be prepared for cooler temperatures, especially in the evenings. If you’re driving, please check road conditions in advance, as they can vary. Altitude Sickness: At around 8,750 feet above sea level, Telluride’s altitude can take some getting used to. To help avoid altitude sickness, we recommend staying hydrated, avoiding alcohol on your first day, and taking it easy until you’ve adjusted. If you’re feeling symptoms like headaches, dizziness, or shortness of breath, rest, hydrate, and take it slow.

Flight

Montrose Regional Airport

If you’re flying, we recommend booking your flight into Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ), which is the nearest major airport to Telluride. From Montrose, it’s about a 1.5-hour drive through the stunning San Juan Mountains to Telluride Ski Resort. Car rentals are available at the airport, but you can also arrange shuttle services for a convenient, scenic ride to the resort. Please keep in mind that mountain roads can be winding, and weather conditions can vary, so give yourself some extra travel time just in case. We can’t wait to celebrate together in the beautiful Colorado mountains!

Flight

Grand Junction Airport

If you're flying into Grand Junction Regional Airport, it's about a 2 to 2.5-hour drive (120 miles) to Telluride. You can rent a car at the airport and take US-50 to CO-141 S, then onto Highway 145 to Telluride. If you prefer not to drive, shuttle services like Alpine Express are available for pre-booking or at the airport.

Flight

Denver International Airport

If you’re flying into Denver International Airport (DEN), Telluride is about a 6-7 hour drive southwest. The route takes you through breathtaking mountain scenery, making for an unforgettable road trip if you have the time. We recommend renting a car and, if possible, choosing a vehicle equipped for mountain driving.

Travel Note

Telluride Express

Telluride Express offers service to all area airports (Telluride, Montrose, Grand Junction, Durango, Cortez and Gunnison) with door to door shared-ride and private accommodations. They are committed to providing individual and group guests with no hassle, courteous and comfortable service.
