How We Met

From strangers to soulmates!

I had a crush on him in high school, he had no idea I existed. To be fair, we never met or even spoke, he had a girlfriend and I was much younger than him haha. Our paths crossed again taking college courses at Anoka Ramsey, but again, never met or spoke. We reconnected years after; hanging out turned into dating, he asked me to be his girlfriend, and we very quickly fell in love!

Building a Life Together

A spectacular life it has been!

From the young servers going to school and having homework to now... We were surprised and blessed with a baby boy (who's not such a baby anymore, ugh!), earned an amazing career, became homeowners, and live happily in our childhood town (aspiring to move to warmer climate someday like everyone else)! We've traveled, seen many concerts, had many date nights, eaten our weight in sushi over the years, developed our partnership; making up for each others weaknesses and celebrating our strength together, raised our son into a wonderful young boy, took our time. After five amazing years, he finally asked me to be his wife and I said "YES!" When Covid shut down our original wedding plans in 2020, we decided we didn’t want to have a larger gap between kids. We’ve spent the last two years with our little Elena and we’re finally circling back to tying the knot!

The Proposal

February 10th, 2020

We were on vacation in Florida. Sean made dinner reservations at a restaurant called Spinner's where the rooftop spins 360 degrees to look out over Tampa Bay and St. Pete's Beach. It was very romantic and if you know me, you know the way to my heart is through my stomach! :P I was sitting there thinking that this would be an ideal location (Spinners or Florida in general) for someone to get engaged. I started to think about Sean proposing and said "Can you imagine having a ring in your pocket like the kind of nervous wreck you would be?" Sean looked at me, quiet and cool as a cucumber while I continued, "I can just imagine you sitting there sweating bullets, heart racing, you would completely give yourself away!" And we both laughed LOL Fast forward to the end of dinner, Sean ordered an extra cocktail than usual (liquid courage?) and was acting it haha We walked outside to look over the balcony. We were looking down and giggling about people square dancing underneath us LOL and I, being sober, was laughing and trying to leave to get my liquored up boyfriend home :P He didn't want to leave and started giggling again. This time I didn't know why and he wouldn't tell me despite my asking. He just said "You're amazing" I said "Oh thank you." and "We should get you drunk more often because I do like to hear that!" He ignored me and continued to say "I want you to marry me" as he pulled the ring out of his pocket. :O Basically I was SO shocked and completely unaware that the first thing I said was "What the F###?!" while laughing and immediately crying. More laughing, kissing, crying. Haha I said YES! obviously

The Set Up

Secrets be told!

I was then informed of the elaborate scheme that went into this proposal! Sean’s dad had given his long term girlfriend, Laura, the green light to go shop for a ring and she asked me to go with her! I was elated and eager to look for myself too while she did her thing. We went to a location where her family member worked. She talked to him, picked out a ring while I was giving input and doing my own thing in between. He gave me very little attention (not enough to notice he was being more than a salesman).. trying different sized diamonds, asking my style preference, size, etc, etc.. it was fun, not suspicious! I found a ring I loved and kept going back to, didn't want to take it off my finger. She bought her ring (which is probably what threw me off suspicion the most) and I left dreaming about mine. but willing to accept it wasn't my time. I thought I would be able to shop at other jewelers when the time came, etc. Shop around. Consider cost (LOL). Well when Sean popped the question it was the EXACT ring I had on my finger that day. They were told to put any of my items aside afterwards and not arouse suspicions! Everyone was in on it! Bravo, guys! It was Laura who went to the jewelers and picked it up. Which is another reason I knew (I thought) Sean couldn't POSSIBLY propose because he had NO extra time! To go pick a ring out himself, to go buy it, to go pick it up, pack it to Florida, etc. I was so completely shocked, left in the absolute dark, and unaware! Seeing it at the airport was the first time Sean ever saw the ring. He simply said "Well if she couldn't take it off, that's the one we'll get" And then when I excitedly went to tell everyone, they already knew! EVERYONE was in on it. I also found out that he had asked my dad to marry me almost six months prior. He’s a keeper 🥰

The Unfortunate Delay

Nothing wrong with a long engagement, right?!

We had planned for September 2020 to be our wedding date. Our delay has been due to Covid because I hope to avoid cutting my guest list as well as mask requirements ( not an accessory I wanted with my wedding dress :P ). When our big day finally does arrive, we will have celebrated over 9 years together <3
