Megan was immediately intrigued with Vadim, by his unique name, piercing blue eyes, and especially his sharp intellect. Vadim thought Megan was lovely and saw in her the running partner he has been searching for, on the trails by the river, and on the trails of life. Although she rejected his proposal for a first date to be a 5 am run in the Turkey Mountain, they settled on dinner in a public location at a time better suited for first dates. Vadim was 20 minutes late (as Megan would later learn, this was early by Eastern European standards), but Megan decided the wait was worth the prize when she saw Vadim arrive on his motorcycle. The conversation flowed smoothly and each found the other utterly intriguing. The night ended with Vadim attempting to impress her with a semi-completed backflip (he attributed this to not having practiced the stunt in years), but later making up for it with a charming kiss. And the rest is history...still in the making
Several elaborate ideas were tossed around with friends and family, most of which involved emergency responders. Thankfully, Max (Vadim's brother) had a better idea. The family planned to celebrate Max's birthday with a nice dinner on December 10th. Megan suggested a fun round of Dirty Santa for some entertainment since it was close to Christmas. Chris (Vadim's stepdad) coordinated several well-executed moves to render the proposal an absolute surprise. The details have since become a family secret to be passed on to the next generations, but what is publicly known is that Megan happened to "randomly select" the last number, becoming the last participant to unwrap their gift. Once she began peeling back the layers, a heart-shaped box contained a mysterious box addressed in Russian language, which contained a small square Jewelry box. Within it lay the promise of Vadim's commitment to Megan -- a circle of eternity -- known today as Megan's wedding ring.
