We met on a blind date at the Grand Luxe Cafe in Roosevelt Field Mall set up by our mutual friend, Anne. We both were very nervous as our previous relationships weren't the greatest. Once we were seated Christian ordered a coke and rum to calm his nerves and then proceeded to wince when he took a sip because of how strong it was. I laughed and asked to take a sip and it definitely was all rum and no coke. We fought each other to pay for the check and he (of course) won. Later on in our relationship I asked him why he was nervous (because I knew why I was nervous, he was cute!) and he said it was because he thought I was out of his league. Flash forward to summer 2019, he had planned this beautiful outing to a sunflower field in Mattatuck, Longisland on a Saturday. I was annoyed about having to sit in a car for an hour and a half but once we were out in the field I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. As we were walking around I was looking at Christian and feeling lucky to have such a wonderful boyfriend and how beautiful of a day it was. However, my looking at him made him nervous and caused him to be curt with me multiple times while we were walking around the field. I just thought he was hangry and wanted to get food. Eventually we were walking along the inside row of sunflowers and I asked him to take a photo of me facing the field before we leave. But, to my surprise, when I turned around I realized not only had he not taken the photo but he was down on one knee recording my reaction to him proposing to me. Of course I said yes! Unforunately due to COVID, we had to postpone our wedding to ensure we could have everyone there to celebrate along side us. We postponed it to a time in the future when it’ll hopefully be safer and allowed to have a larger gathering. Here’s to hoping!
