This event will be at the Bride's parent's home in Austin. Since this event will be outside, we recommend simple Indian wear in bright colors or prints along with flat shoes or block heels. This event will get a little messy, so please wear something that is washable.
Pithi is a traditional pre-wedding ceremony in which friends and family apply a tumeric paste to the bride and offer well wishes to the couple. There will be snacks throughout the event and we will serve dinner after the Pithi.
3:00 pm
For guests participating in the dirty pithi, wear t shirt and leggings or shorts and bring a change of traditional Indian wear for the evening. For all guests not participating, please wear traditional Indian wear.
Baqir’s pithi will begin at 3pm and will start if with a cultural ceremony which will be followed by the Dirty Pithi at 3:30, so please arrive accordingly. Mehendi artists will be available throughout the evening night for any guest that wishes to apply mehendi.
6:00 pm - 10:30 pm
We suggest traditional Indian wear, shalwar kameez for women and kurtas for men, and in darker jewel tones.
The Mehendi Lagao event is a joyful event where the bride, along with her friends and family members, gets intricate henna designs applied to her hands and feet. The grooms side will come crash our festivities which will lead to some games and dancing.
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
This event will be at Jamat Khana. We suggest women wear traditional Indian wear in light colors and men wear suits.
The Nikkah is an intimate religious wedding ceremony at which Baqir and Uzma will be married. In case of rain, this event will be moved to the prayer hall. In this case, only Ismaili guests may attend the Nikkah. We will share updates with all invitees if there is any change to the plans.
3:15 pm - 4:00 pm
This event is directly after the Nikkah. At this time, Baqir and Uzma will be welcomed home as a married couple and they will play some games to determine who will have the upper hand in their marriage! Light refreshments will be served.
6:00 pm - 11:45 pm
We suggest formal Indian wear for women and suits for men, please avoid red if possible. Please note that you do not need to change between the Nikkah and Reception.
This is our main event for the wedding weekend and will consist of dinner and dancing, both performances and an open dance floor!
