Lauren and Kevin met their Junior year of college at Ohio State. Kevin's Best Man, Garrett, was in the same business fraternity as Lauren while Garrett and Kevin were living together and had a group of their friends over. Lauren had a couple of drinks and ended up knocking over Kevin's lamp on the front porch, which made for a great opening to start talking to Lauren. For the next few months they saw more and more of each other at college gatherings until they started officially dating January 7th, 2021. Their time in college helped them grow close together while pursuing their career dreams, going to constant social events where they grew to know each other's friends, and making time for some college budget dates by finding the best happy hours in town. Their first big adventure together was a roadtrip from Ohio to Reno, Nevada where Kevin was interning for the summer of 2021. That roadtrip and a visit from Lauren in the summer brought them to places such as Denver, Moab, Salt Lake City, Lake Tahoe, Napa, Sonoma, Lassen National Park, and San Francisco. It taught them valuable lessons in communication as they navigated long distance across the country while Lauren was in Ohio, showed them how exciting exploring the world with each other was, and made them both realize how they had come to love each other. This love was an important thing to know going into their senior year of college, where it grew more and more as Lauren took a job in Chicago and Kevin in Austin, Texas. They knew long distance would be difficult at times, but the challenge would be worth the career opportunities, life experiences, and friends they'd gain along the way. Two years of distance went by slowly at some points and quickly at others. There were countless flights as Lauren traveled to Rotterdam and Cleveland for work, Kevin traveled to Korea, Germany, California, and Nevada for work, and they both flew between Ohio, Austin, and Chicago many times. There were frustrations with poor facetime connections, time zone differences, and special days they couldn't spend together, but the short times together always kept them going strong, knowing they would make it through. After 2 years, it became clear they both wanted to spend every day together and that it was time to move in together. Lauren, very selflessly, was willing to move to Austin so that Kevin could keep his job, despite having to leave behind many incredible friends she'd made in Chicago and move to a smaller work location in Austin. In September of 2024, Lauren packed her bags, and her and Kevin flew down to Austin to move her into their new apartment. Finally living together, they quickly settled into always having each other. Life felt easier and happier than it ever had, with not much of a fight more than how to assemble a shoe cabinet (which Lauren was right about). Before long, they had thrown around the idea of getting married, and in January 2025 Kevin started sketching ring ideas on his flights to Korea and figuring out how to surprise Lauren with a proposal. It took quite a bit of time to plan, but in June 2025, after his last work trip of the year, Kevin surprised Lauren by proposing to her on the roof of their apartment at sunset. She said yes (or you wouldn't be reading this), they celebrated with friends and family all over the country for the next 2 weeks, and have settled into wedding planning ever since. Their love has been built on the friends and family closest to them, countless adventures they have chased, the ambitions they have together, and the simple, quiet moments they get to share in between it all. They are looking forward to a lifetime more.
