They casually met in college. Juan, Carolina's best friend and Nico's line brother introduced them. After meeting each other, Carolina jokingly said to Juan , "I want to marry him". Seven years later... Instagram became their first source of communication. Who messaged who first is still debatable. Even though Nico will always say "Carolina slid into my DMs". They texted each other for months. Spoke on the phone every single day. Literally every single day. Until one day, Carolina decided to visit Nico in Houston. Their first encounter, Carolina was so nervous she couldn't even speak! They spent the entire weekend creating and exploring the city. Their creative minds and love for travel brought them together. Leto obviously approved... After their weekend together they went back to their separate lives and didn't think anything of it. But, they continued to constantly talk for hours and hours a day. Despite the different time zones and miles apart, it felt as if they were always together. Until one day, Nico decided to leave his hometown of Houston and join Carolina in her travels. What started as a friendship grew into a deep love for each other. Fast forward to today... Carolina loves his consistent attention to detail and how dramatic he is. Oh and how he scratches her back before bed every night, even though he finds it annoying. Nico loves her endless patience with his complicated-ness and of course her goofy dance moves. They are inseparable and cannot wait to spend their life together!
Background We were living in Phoenix, Arizona, and were expecting our friends, Juan and Megan to visit. Our plan was to take a day trip to Sedona and explore the city and its hiking views. Little did Carolina know, Nico and our friends had something completely different planned. Her Story I was super excited to have our friends visit! I wanted to plan a day trip to Sedona because it's one of my favorite hiking areas, plus the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. I wanted to share the experience with Nico and our friends. The morning of the trip, we headed out, and halfway there I started having a migraine. Everyone was slightly freaking out except me. Once in the city, we headed to Cathedral Rock, our original planned hiking area, but the road leading up was "closed due to overcrowding". We continued driving and somehow turned into another parking area and found a spot! As we started hiking, I noticed everyone else was in such a hurry, all I wanted to do was take in the beautiful scenery and enjoy the trail. Megan even told Juan to stop being so nice and to stop taking pictures of others when asked. LOL. We turned around the bend after a short hike through dirt trails, shrubs and trees, and rocks, which finally lead to an opening of a huge flat rock with the most stunning view of the Sedona mountains. As usual, we stopped and took a few photos, and enjoyed the experience. At one point, I even said out loud, "I wish I could get married here, it's so pretty." At that exact moment, Nico and the others gave each other a look... According to Nico, he knew at that exact moment that it was time to propose. He took out the ring he secretly had in his pocket the entire time, knelt down, and asked "Will you marry me?". Obviously, I said yes! The day was absolute perfection.
