How We Met

September 04, 2005

Uriah and Ellie met through MySpace! Yes, on MySpace! They finally decided to go on their first date September 4th, 2005. Uriah worked in video/film. Ellie worked with photography. They both have a mutual love & passion for music, art, writing and culture.

The Proposal

A Spectacular Night in Dallas, Texas

Uriah arranged for a wonderful staycation at the Lorenzo Hotel in downtown Dallas. After telling me to dress up for our dinner plans, he took me to our first location where he asked me to close my eyes and keep them closed until he told me to open them. He escorted me through a building to sit for a moment (eyes still closed) then told me to keep them closed as he was going to guide me now. He then tells me to open my eyes, as we stopped. And I was standing in front of Cessna Aircraft at Addison Airport. I am shocked but excited. As we get into the seats, I hear music from a playlist Uriah had created with all of our songs that we love playing. As we fly around over Dallas, Texas and see the beautiful lights, the pilot points out all the cool iconic places in Dallas, the neat colored lights, buildings, etc. The pilot says that they just put up a new sign and was going to take us to see it. As he approaches the area, he tells me to look out my window to get a good view. I do not see it. The pilot tells us that he is going to swing back around for me to get a better view - to look in the empty field next to the street that goes in from the highway- and that he is going to dip my side of the plane down a bit so that i can get a better look. As i flies around again and dips my side of the plane down, I see it - in bright, white, gowing lit up letters, the sign says, "MARRY ME!" - I immediately get so choked up and can't even speak from the shock and happiness. "What does it say, Baby?" , Uriah asks. After a moment, I am able to speak through my tears, "It says, MARRY ME!". He pulls out a shiny red ring box and says, "Ellie, would you do me the honor of marrying me?" - as I am still choked up, I say "YES!" as I hear our most favorite song playing through my headset. What a joyous moment. Followed by a WONDERFUL dinner at Reunion Tower for an amazing night! I was so giddy! Still am!
