We met in high school — back when homework, football games, and figuring out life felt like the biggest things in the world. What started as a simple high school relationship quickly became something much bigger. Our first official date was at Ice Cream Depot back when it was still in its original Milltown location. It was simple and sweet — just the two of us and the kind of easy conversation that made time disappear. On another night not long after, we found ourselves sitting on the wall at Bicentennial Park, listening to “I’m Not in Love” by 10cc and talking for hours. It was one of those evenings where nothing extraordinary was happening — and yet it felt like everything was. Somewhere between that song playing and the late-night conversations, it stopped feeling like just high school. It started feeling like forever. Not long after we began dating, Courtney left for college while Timmy finished high school. Most people might have called that timing complicated — but for us, it was just the beginning of learning how to choose each other, over and over again. Over the years, we’ve gone through high school graduation, four different undergraduate colleges, one grad school program, and have lived apart in four different states. We’ve mastered long-distance, packed up countless apartments, survived time zones, and learned how to build a home no matter the zip code. Growing up together hasn’t always meant being in the same place — but it’s always meant being on the same team. Nearly a decade later, we’re still choosing each other — only now, we get to do it forever.
