Our story began on an ordinary night at Blue Point Brewery in Patchogue — with a little help from a very determined white husky named Cooper. Matt had noticed “the girl in the red jacket” and told his friend he was going to get her number before the night was over. Luckily, Cooper had the same plan — he kept wandering over to Marina’s table, and after the third time, Marina laughed and told Matt, “Wow, he’s got good taste.” To which Matt replied, “He sure does”. That simple moment sparked a conversation, and the rest is our favorite love story.
Marina and Matt started officially dating at a Jets game, and somehow they actually won. Marina had a few drinks and, even though we’d only known each other a month, told Matt she wanted him around forever. Right then and there, Matt asked her to be his girlfriend — proof that sometimes, good things happen even at a Jets game.
After a sunny afternoon champagne tasting at Sparkling Pointe out east, they grabbed takeout wings—one of their favorite guilty pleasures—and drove to the beach to watch the sunset. They ate the wings in the car, laughing and talking like always, before heading down to the water. As they got closer, Marina noticed rose petals scattered in the sand but didn’t think anything of it. Until, waiting for them by the waves was a blanket covered in photos of their memories together, surrounded by roses and champagne. There, with the sun setting behind them, Matt got down on one knee and asked Marina to be his forever.
