ON OUR FIRST DATE: "We met for the first time in the left field seats at a Kansas City Royals game in the Spring of 2022. All I remember about what happened during the game was that the score was tied 0-0 after 9 innings, and I nearly leapt out of my seat when it went to extra innings because it meant we'd have more time together." -Connor "Going to a baseball game as a first date could've been risky. You're sitting side by side together for four hours. But, it was so worth it. I remember hanging on to his every word; I had never felt so seen before. I couldn't stop listening to his stories-- and many Star Wars references. The real test was when he met my cat... she loved him, and our story began." - Sarah ON THE EARLY DAYS: "I took Sarah to my sister's wedding after only a few months of dating. But, I started to get the feeling my family liked her even more than me. Who wouldn't? She's confident yet gracious. Strong but compassionate. The real highlight was at the end of the night when Sarah played tag with the kids of the wedding underneath the lights; everyone fell in love with her." -Connor "Connor and I loved exploring different places, big cities and familiar ones alike. We both love movies, so we figured we'd combine our love of travel and film and go to Walt Disney World to visit Connor's friends in Florida. In February of 2023, we went on a couple's trip with Connor's best man, August, and his now wife, Paige, along with his sister and husband. I remember being both terrified as I had only met each of them once, but was so excited to be spending time with pieces of the man I loved. Life with him is sunshine and felt like all the classic Disney fairytales I knew and loved." - Sarah ON THE PROPOSAL: "In December of 2024, Connor fooled me in the best way; I was under the impression we were traveling to Omaha to visit friends (who kept up the ruse when approached). But, he kept "having the urge” to watch many, many NYC based movies/tv shows… how could I not have known what he had up his sleeve? That's Connor: incredibly creative, thoughtful, and intentional. Two days before our trip, we exchanged Christmas presents. In a trip journal, he wrote the first entry: “New York City - December 15th, 2024.” Although the trip was the ultimate surprise, walking down to Central Park in the rain the next morning and stopping underneath Bethesda Terrace is a moment I will remember forever. Connor took my umbrella, knelt down and my mind went blank - except for one word: yes!" - Sarah "After I proposed, we went on a sunset cruise on a vintage yacht around the city. There were warm lights with ivory and poinsettias lining the wood. It was cold outside and a little rainy so the windows of the boat fogged up beside us in the cabin. When we docked in Chelsea, we visited a lounge, 'Dear Irving on Hudson,' facing downtown on the 40th floor. The rain had cleared, but the fog floated up and swirled around the city lights. When the elevator doors opened, they were playing one of our favorite songs, 'Style' off the 1989 album, with a card at our table addressed, 'To Manhattan's most stylish couple: -XO Irving' in a red envelope." -Connor ON THE LITTLE DETAILS WE LOVE: "Sometimes I get asked the question about why I'm wearing a ring on my left hand already-- I promise that we haven't eloped! It's because Sarah is the most generous and considerate human I've ever met. When we were in New York City the day I proposed, she surprised me at dinner with a ring of my own. She said that it wasn't fair that she was the only one to get something shiny and special. That's the kind of person she is." -Connor "The simple, most mundane moments are reminders of how sure I am of spending the rest of my life with Connor - to walks along Trolley Trail, dancing and making homemade pizza together, or quiet evenings at home watching Clone Wars; he is home in a person. When I look at him, I see strength, patience, fairness, and laughter." - Sarah
