What started during “birthday party season” quickly became something neither of them expected. Between cookouts, loud music, and weekends packed with celebrations, Demetrius tried Ryene’s chicken wings and instantly became “the chicken man,” a title he still proudly holds (along with the chicken emoji next to his name in her phone). Not long after, at a joint birthday party, the two spent the night laughing, talking, and staying close. Somehow, Demetrius left with Ryene’s number. Two weeks later, they went for ice cream on a date Ryene swore up and down was absolutely not a date. Turns out, it was. What started as “not a date” quickly turned into seeing each other every single day. What began as something simple grew into blending their lives, their families, and their future. By April 2023, they built a life full of kids, chaos, laughter, late nights, early mornings, and a whole lot of love. What started as a summer moment became a partnership rooted in friendship, consistency, and showing up for each other every single day.
