Even though we went to the same high school (and Dustin's best friend was actually Kendra's best friend's older brother!) the two of us spoke maybe 10 words to each other before Dustin graduated and moved away to Austin. Two years later, we both happened to move into the same UT housing co-op down, our doors just down the hall from each other. Dustin asked Kendra if she wanted to go for burgers at P Terry's, and we instantly became best friends. Over time friendship blossomed into something much deeper, and we have been inseparable ever since.

Dustin here! Okay anyone who knows me knows that I love surprises. And of course this one had to be BIG. So here's what happened: I asked our friend Lindsey to "invite" Kendra and I to a fake dinner party at Mattie's, an old Victorian farmhouse turned restaurant that has long been one of our favorite date night spots. When we arrived, the receptionist knew to inform us that our party hadn't arrived yet, which was my queue to suggest a little stroll around the beautiful grounds. We walked through the hedges, along a brick pathway shaded by live oak trees, to a landing covered in rose petals. The real surprise came after the proposal, when we were greeted by a champagne toast with family & friends who were hiding just out of sight!
