Tyler and Avery met at Smokin' Jozee's bar in Huntsville, TX when a mutual friend invited them out. After chatting for a few minutes, Tyler slid his phone across the table hoping Avery would put her number in - she did. Fun fact: Tyler was not 21 yet and got kicked out of the bar the next time they went to it.

Avery was not too keen on starting up a relationship knowing she would graduate from SHSU and move away a few months later, but Tyler was persistent. He brought her donuts almost every morning and would walk her to and from class. He wanted to spend every free moment with her. On September 25th, Avery told Tyler she would say "yes" if he asked her to be his girlfriend.

After over six years of dating, Tyler finally asked! He told Avery they were going to fill in for another couple that dropped out of a double date. Avery was completely clueless as to what was going on, but was excited for a date night at Rainbow Lodge! When they got to the restaurant, Avery was secretly annoyed that the other couple on the double date wanted to take pictures back behind the restaurant since it was raining, but she wasn't going to be the Debbie downer. After the picture in the rain, Avery started running back up to the restaurant when Tyler said, "turn around miss Avery!" When she turned, he was down on one knee. She obviously said yes and was so surprised, but she will tell you she had an inkling earlier that week. :) Tyler's secret planning continued on to the next day when he gathered their closest friends and family to celebrate the engagement. Avery was once again so surprised and cried happy tears all day long.

Once they get married, Tyler and Avery will have a new anniversary of February 3rd! Avery will still use their original anniversary of September 25th as an excuse for a date night though.
