We recommend a day trip to climb or sightsee Sigiriya the ancient rock fortress. About a 40 minute drive from Heritance Kandalama (wedding venue). It was once the fortified palace of King Kashyapa in the 5th century. Ideal time to visit would be at sunrise or sunset to beat the crowds, the mid-day heat and to see a nice view.
