Bless the wonderful couple

We, Indrani and Kausik, take immense pleasure in informing you that our beloved son Ujan has found his soulmate in Sophia Bolanos, daughter of Molly Derrig and Steve Bolanos of Seattle, USA, and will tie the knot with her at Goa, in a traditional Indian ceremony, on the 7th of January 2024. They met for the first time in a sushi restaurant in Belltown and bonded over their mutual love of travel, music and the hot dog man on the corner of 2nd and Blanchard. Conversation flowed freely and over the next couple years they became part of each others’ families. Sophia traveled to India and fell in love with the culture and the food, while Ujan spent many a Sunday poured over a cheese board at the Bolanos backyard barbecues. In the summer of 2022, during a candlelit dinner on a quiet sea beach of Cozumel, Mexico, Ujan went down on one knee and asked Sophia to spend the rest of her life trying to be an Arsenal fan. The offer was too good to pass up - Sophia agreed and they got engaged! To begin the next chapter of their lives together, they will be taking seven rounds of the holy yagna fire (‘Saptapadi’, as we Bengalis say) at a serene beach in Goa during twilight ('Kone dekha aalo' in Bengali indicating most appropriate light to see a bride).
