Udit’s Version

I and Raj got matched on a dating website while she was doing her summer internship in SF. While there were no sparks flying in the initial conversations, Duke connection kept the conversation going. Our first date was on a Friday at Jazz Bar that we frequent today. Raj was very smart, intelligent and fun from the first moment. She wasn’t afraid of making fun of herself and laughing out loud. We had a very strong chemistry! Very soon we were spending all weekends with each other. We explored SF as tourists going on walks exploring neighborhoods. Six weeks after we started dating, Raj had to move back to Cambridge to complete her second year of school. Long distance involved FaceTime calls and cross continent trip. Excitement of seeing her next time kept me going. We did our first international trip to Costa Rica together and by the end of the trip I was convinced she was a keeper and started looking at rings to ask her to marry me. She graduated and moved to SF in the summer and we started our life together. Very soon I asked her to marry me and she said yes. We did a city hall wedding with close family and friends in attendance in Oct 2019 not knowing what was in store for the world. Very soon, the world was in lockdown and like everyone else, we had a lot of uncertainty and concerns around our well being, our jobs and health of our loved ones. We had to heavily lean on each other while we were hunkered down in our 1-bedroom apartment. Spending 24x7 with each other brought us closer. We learned that marriage is an engine that is fueled by making sacrifices for each other. From learning new culinary skills together to our daily walks gave us new avenues to learn more about each other and progress in our marriage. 2021 brought a lot of positive changes. Raj completed her second Masters, changed jobs, and we bought our first home. We traveled to Belize, Italy, Turkey, New York, Vegas, Miami and several road trips in California. We can't wait to celebrate our marriage with you on November 4th and 5th in Napa.

Raj's Version

Our story began in the summer of 2018 during my MBA internship in SF. After half the summer had passed and I’d had no luck with online dating, I deactivated my dating apps, since I’d be heading back to Boston in a few weeks anyway. I had matched with Udit a few weeks earlier, but our text conversations had been lackluster so I wasn’t expecting much. I remember thinking, “This isn’t going to go anywhere, but he went to Duke, so I guess I’ll go out with him…” We did finally go on a date — and it was pure magic. Udit was engaging, funny, and thoughtful. It was a matter of weeks before I fell in love with him. It was the beginning of the best adventure of my life. Being married to Udit is both exciting and easy — he keeps me engaged with his humor, his intellectual curiosity, his huge number of friends around the world, and our shared love of being active and traveling, but all throughout he takes care of me and never hesitates to shower me with affection and kindness. I didn’t know someone so wonderful could exist, and I still wake up every morning in awe that I get to be his wife. We are so excited to share our special day with you.
